Barangaroo in Sydney’s CBD is full of great spots to eat and have a few drinks at and Nola Smokehouse and Bar is one of these places. If you’re looking for a great venue with water views whilst you have a few drinks on a Sunday afternoon (or anytime really) then this is it.
As soon as you walk out of the elevator the smell of meat being smoked fills your nostrils and your belly starts rumbling from the mouthwatering smells coming from the kitchen . This place certainly does open up your appetite.
Whilst you can eat at the restaurant (the menu looks awesome btw) on this occasion we were only there for drinks and nibbles so the focus on this post is just that. Apart from a good selection of wines, beers and cocktails the bar menu is pretty good. This place is a great spot for a catch up with friends so if the drinks do spill over (no pun intended- well maybe!) into a late lunch or early dinner rest assured the restaurant menu will have you covered.
As we were only there for a few drinks and a catch up we shared a few things from the bar menu to enjoy with our wine and beer. The cheese board with a selection of 3 cheeses- although you do have a choice of 1, 3 or 5 pieces of cheese, is a definite must to accompany your drinks. And if you’re anything like me when it comes to cheese, you will simply love this selection, there’s a choice of Jenson Red, Maffra Cheddar, Queso Tradicionales Rouzaire Coulommiers and Trinity Blue. The board also comes with guava, crisp breads and a bit of fruit.
The Mac ‘n’ cheese smoked pork scrumpets were amazing, I could have happily sat there all afternoon and eaten them. These are mac ‘n’ cheese filled balls that also have succulent pieces of pork in them, seriously addictive!
The roasted cauliflower hummus was really nice too, it’s served with crisp bread and a perfect accompaniment to the cheese selection.
Price wise the bar menu is midrange depending on what you get (and you’ll probably be sharing your plates) but the food is good, so if you’re like me then you’ll happily pay for quality food.
If you’re looking for a place for some drinks and nibbles when your in Barangaroo this place should be on your list.
